#2 - THE BOX DRILL

The "over the top" move creates an excessively steep downswing and approach into the ball. The clubhead approaches from a steep angle and cuts across the target line from an out-to-in path.

This Box Drill is a nice way to offset the incorrect path through the ball.

Place a box a few inches on the other side of the golf ball. Next, make a practice downswing into the golf ball without hitting the box.

Place a box a few inches on the other side of the golf ball. Next, make a practice downswing into the golf ball without hitting the box.

Once you make practice swings without hitting the box attempt to make a regular swing and hit the ball. The box helps eliminate the steep swing and encourages a different in-to-out path.

Therefore, the box is an effective training tool that improves the path of the club head.
