Kipp Popert beats Brendan Lawlor to win G4D @ BMW PGA Championship
Kipp Popert won his third G4D title of the season at Wentworth, adding to his successes at G4D @ Betfred British Masters and the G4D @ Porsche European Open.
Kipp Popert has won his third G4D title of the season by beating World No.1 Brendan Lawlor to win the G4D @ BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.
The Englishman held a one-shot lead after shooting 72 in Monday's first round on the West Course. This score came after opening the event with back-to-back bogeys.
Popert dropped back into a share of the lead with Lawlor and Mike Browne on the 10th hole after making a double-bogey on the 6th hole in the second round. However, Popert took control again with four birdies on the back nine.
He made a birdie on the famous 18th hole to card a 3-under-par 69. Popert's victory is his third in the space of five months after also winning the G4D @ Betfred British Masters and the G4D @ Porsche European Open.
"To hole that putt on the last - that meant a lot!"

"It feels really good, to hole that putt on the last was nice. It meant a lot. The ball just went in the hole. I’ve been playing really well, today I didn’t play nearly as well as I did yesterday - my iron play was much better yesterday," Popert said.
"I saw we were all tied coming into the back nine and I had to do what I needed to. I was really pleased and Ben, my caddie, has been brilliant. We’re really getting somewhere and we’re really working well together.
"My friend Kiera lives really near here. I always drive past the gates (of Wentworth). It’s really cool to win and it’s only an hour or so from my house. I had my dad and a few uncles here, so that was cool."
Popert is one of three players to confirm his place in the G4D Tour Series Finale @ DP World Tour Championship. He will be joined by Browne and Italy's Tommaso Perrino who won the G4D @ ISPS Handa World Invitational.
The winner of the next event, G4D @ Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters, will also join this field with the remaining six spots allocated based on performances during the G4D Tour season.
