Bubba: Trump at Doral diverts media from me

Bubba Watson admits playing a Donald Trump-designed course this week at least takes some of the media attention away from himself.

Speaking ahead of the WGC-Cadillac Championship, the two-time Masters champion slammed a subtle shot at the golf media for supposedly 'twisting' some of his recent comments, no doubt referring to his words at last month's Phoenix Open

With presidential candidate Trump rumoured to be making an appearance at Doral's Blue Monster during the tournament, the world number four is more than happy the political world is to collide with golf.

“I think it's great if there's a big ruckus when he shows up, because the media gets away from me and you don't hear the bad comments I say or twist them,” said Watson.

“It is going to be different because we've never had this. For it to be in the middle of a race, yeah, it will be different, but I'm pretty sure he'll show up at some point.”

Watson will play the opening two rounds alongside Rickie Fowler and Henrik Stenson, while the world's leading three players Jordan Spieth, Jason Day and Rory McIlroy have all been grouped together.
