Top five Seve Ballesteros-designed golf courses in Europe

The Shire London, England

The Shire London is the first and only course designed by Seve in England, opening for play in 2007. It's a course which reflects much of the philosophy of its creator, set up to produce exciting and imaginative golf. Unusually, there are six par-5s, six par-4s and six par-3s.

Many of the holes involve water hazards, notably the island green on the 135-yard par-3 first hole, and the 'S'-shaped (for 'Seve') lake guarding the 18th green.

The course combines a mixture of parkland, woodland and links features, creating a hugely varied - if a little disjointed - golfing experience.

The championship 'Masters' course is a par-72 and plays 7,028 yards at its longest, so length off the tee certainly helps, but a lack of it is not penalised.

Signature Hole: The par-5 5th - long hole measuring just shy of 600 yards off the back tees.
