"Horrific!" Son of LIV Golf CEO BASHES lowly final-round Open viewing figures
Greg Norman Jr, son of the LIV Golf CEO, hits out as final round of The Open suffers its lowest viewing figures on NBC since 2015.
Greg Norman Jr, son of LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman, has blasted The Open's lowly final-round TV ratings on NBC.
The American network reportedly recorded 3.53m viewers on Sunday as Brian Harman cruised to a six-stroke victory in the final major of the season at Royal Liverpool.
It marks the lowest final-round Open audience in the USA since Zach Johnson came through a four-hole playoff to win at St Andrews in 2015.
That was largely down to The Open finishing on a Monday due to inclement weather.
Furthermore, this year's final-round Open Championship viewing figures were down 26% on last year's 4.73m.
Harman led by five strokes going into the final round and despite a late surge from the likes of Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy, the tournament very much proved a turn-off for a number of golf fans in the United States.
Horrific. Golf needs to be actively working together across the board to generate engagement to our beloved sport.
But sadly this is par for the course, all sports broadcast through traditional media is in a death spiral.

Last year at St Andrews saw Cameron Smith oust Cameron Young and McIlroy to the Claret Jug.
The viewing figures from the final round in 2022 was also TV only and no Peacock or NBC Digital, which is now offered in 2023.
Jumping all over the figures on Twitter was Greg Norman Jr, the son of LIV Golf CEO and two-time Open champion Greg Norman.
Norman Jr tweeted:
Did you tune in to the final round of the 2023 Open Championship at Hoylake? What did you make of the action? Did the big names let themselves down, or was Brian Harman really that good? Share your thoughts and comments over on the GolfMagic social media channels.
