Golf fans have been in hysterics are watching Bubba Watson's brilliant exchange with his caddie Teddy Scott during Thursday's opening round of the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour.

Watson opened his account for the week with a 2-under par round of 70 on the North Course at Torrey Pines and faces the more challenging South Course on Friday.

The 42-year-old is known for his wild antics both on and off the golf course and the left-hander was in fine form whilst watchign his ball in the air during the first round.

"Please be right Teddy," said Watson. "One time in your life Teddy. Oh Teddy be right!"

And Teddy was right, he had calculated the perfected yardage for Watson and the ball was left just a few feet from the hole.

The banter didn't stop there from Watson, as once he saw how close his ball had gone, he decided to take full credit for the shot instead of thank Teddy for providing the perfect number: "That was all me, that was all me."

"If he’s going to really make you put those iron covers back on....you may as well get some accolades," joked one golf fan on social media.

Watson's fellow Masters winner Patrick Reed currently shares the lead at the Farmers Insurance Open, against Ryder Cup rival Alex Noren, after both players shot 8-under par rounds on Thursday.

Friday's action is expected to be delayed due to heavy rain and thunderstorms forecasted in San Diego, but hopefully play isn't suspended for too long and we can witness some magic at Torrey Pines.
