Forged MP-650

The MP-650 is a 450cc ‘Tour Ready’ driver engineered to combine high average ball speeds with a high launch angle and low spin rates – producing noticeable distance gains in the right hands.

In appearance terms, the MP-650 looks very similar to the MP-630 but as the saying goes ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.’ This driver has a classic look at address apart from the open face.

The open-nature of the face means it’s very hard to hit the ball to the left. Due to the open face I found myself hitting a few too far to the right and I found my dispersion and distance suffered.

When hit from the sweet spot the driver had a fantastic feel and the ball sprung off the face but it was completely different when you strayed away from the centre of the club.

Verdict

A driver suited to better ball strikers as the club offers little forgiveness.
