An emotional Matt Wallace captured his fifth DP World Tour title and first in six years with playoff victory over Alfredo Garcia-Heredia at the Omega European Masters in Switzerland.
Wallace, 34, held a commanding four-shot lead entering the final round but he was caught for the first time all day when Garcia-Heredia, 42, made birdie from five feet on the par-4 18th.
But the Englishman kept his composure and then returned a birdie of his own from seven feet on the first extra hole - the par-4 18th - to win the tournament.
The win now rockets Wallace to first in the 2025 European Ryder Cup standings, something he admits is very much on his mind with 12 months to go until the biennial contest at Bethpage Black in New York.
"Sorry for the tears, I'm so happy," said Wallace.
"It wasn't easy, I felt a score was out there, just couldn't get anything going.
"I kept pushing and pushing, but great play from Alfredo to tie it up on the 18th.
"But that was some good focus from me today. I could have easily lost the lead at various stages over the last two days but I stuck at it. That's me, that's Matt Wallace golf right there.
"I work hard, Ryder Cup, let's go."
On picking up a red jacket for winning the European Masters, avid Manchester United fan Wallace said: "Love it, red and black, come on United."
England's Andrew Johnston finished one shot back in solo third on 10-under par.
Jason Scrivener and home favourite Cedric Gugler were a further two shots back on 8-under par.
Earlier in the round, a hilarious moment played out down the 9th hole when a referee told Wallace to let him officiate a ruling for playing partner Johnston.
