An emotional Daniel Brown captured his second DP World Tour title following victory at the BMW International Open before paying tribute to a good friend that he sadly lost last weekend.

Brown, 30, held a narrow one-shot lead heading into the final round at Golfclub München Eichenried in Munich, Germany.

After being briefly caught by his playing partner Smith by the 11th, Brown pulled clear once again with a birdie on the par-3 12th.

Smith then firmly handed the initiative to Brown when making bogeys on the 13th and 14th.

Brown held a two-shot lead down the par-5 18th and then shut the door when finding the green in two shots.

He took two putts from there for birdie to finish the week at 22-under par and two shots clear of Smith.

Brown closed with a flawless 66, one shot better than Smith's 67.

After tapping in for birdie on 18, Brown embraced Smith on the green before bursting into tears next to his caddie.

"It means a lot," said an emotional Brown, who paid tribute to a good friend that sadly passed away last weekend.

"The first win didn't sink in, but this one has straight away hit me.

"I lost a friend at home last weekend.... I don't know what to say, this was for him.

"The last two days I kept thinking about him to take my mind off it and not get too emotional in the process, but yeah not too sure what happened today, out of body experience, nerves, and then thinking about the importance of winning a golf tournament.

"He was there with me and it made it a bit easier."

The victory marks Brown's second of his DP World Tour career.

Brown won his first title at the ISPS Handa World Invitational in August 2023.

He memorably led The Open at Royal Troon last summer after the first round before going on to finish his debut major with a respectable T10.

New Zealand's Kozuma Kobori closed with a brilliant 63 to finish solo third at the BMW International Open on 18-under par.

Davis Bryant, Kristoffer Reitan and Joost Luiten rounded out the top five on 16-under par.
