The general manager of LIV Golf's Cleeks outfit was described as 'delusional' after he revealed he wants their emblem to transcend the sport in the same way Michael Jordan's Jumpman logo did in the NBA.

Jonas Mårtensson - the creator of the best-selling video game Minecraft and former chief executive of Mojang Studios - was appointed as the Cleeks' general manager last September.

His finger prints are already over the team as they have already undergone a thorough rebrand.

Part of the rebrand saw the streamlining of their team logo, which replaced a cleek-shaped golf club with a bold 'C' perched on a tee.

Mårtensson recently spoke to Forbes where he offered his thoughts on how his nine-month stint in charge has gone.

And he also revealed his bold plans for the future.

"I think this way more fun for many reasons," he told the publication of his new gig.

"I'm a golfer. I love golf. I think this is the most fun I've had in my career.

"I wouldn't want to compare how difficult things are—but with Minecraft, when I started there were 25 people, and there were about 1000 when I left. That was difficult.

"This is kind of a start-up on steroids, which is amazing. It's a completely different beast."

The Cleeks - which comprises of Martin Kaymer, Adrian Meronk, Richard Bland and Frederik Kjettrup - are struggling in the team and individual standings

Mårtensson isn't too concerned with results yet as he has urged the team to look at the big picture.

He did tell Forbes, though, that he wants the C insignia to have the same impact on golf as Michael Jordan's Jumpman logo in the NBA and Ferrari's prancing stallion in F1

"You have to have people that love and it and we have to build a community," he said.

"It helps when people who other people look up to and can relate to are wearing the logo.

"That's what happened with the Yankees logo, it became a cultural phenomenon with lots of celebrities wearing the brand."

His comments were leapt upon by Golf Twitter.

"When I think of Martin Kaymer I do often think of Michael Jordan," one user joked.

"I always say Richard Bland is the Michael Jordan of golf," another added.

This person wrote: "Delusional."

"This is quite something," another chimed in.
