Reports: PGA Tour dealt fresh headache after losing major sponsor
The PGA Tour's long-time sponsor for their Las Vegas event has pulled out, according to a report by The Las Vegas Review Journal.
Shriners Children's Hospital is reportedly severing its ties with the PGA Tour, according to a report.
The Las Vegas Review Journal was the first to report the news on Friday afternoon that Shriners was severing its ties with the PGA Tour.
Shriners has been the title endorser for the stop at TPC Summerlin since 2007.
Bob Roller, vice president of sports at Shriners, said in a statement: "We have enjoyed a tremendous 18 years as the host and title sponsor of the Shriners Children's Open
"The opportunity to tell our incredible stories of the more than 1.6m children that have received care from Shriners was, and always is, our primary goal.
"The PGA Tour has been a tremendous partner along the way, and we thank them and the entire Las Vegas/Summerlin community."
Las Vegas was the site of Tiger Woods' first professional victory back in 1996.
J.T. Poston was the latest winner of the tournament, capturing his third Tour win after holding off Doug Ghim.
The news will of course come as a bitter blow to the Tour.
Over the last two years several high-profile sponsors have opted out of their partnerships.
Honda concluded its 42-year sponsorship of the Honda Classic in 2023, citing changes to its marketing strategy.
It's now known as The Classic in the Palm Beaches.
Wells Fargo, Farmers Insurance and Sanderson Farms have also confirmed they will not renew their deals.
RBC's contract at both the Heritage and Canadian Open has also expired.
