News of Scottie Scheffler's arrest before the second round of the PGA Championship sent the golf world into overdrive. 

No sooner was the world's number one golfer whisked away in handcuffs did a remarkable mugshot of Scheffler surface. 

Scheffler was charged with assaulting a police officer after a traffic incident outside Valhalla Golf Club on 17 May.

The golfer stretched in his jail cell and, remarkably, managed to card a second round of 66 to put himself firmly in contention heading into the weekend to claim his second major championship victory of 2024. 

Details of what happened exactly are murky as his attorney has already painted an extremely different version of events than the official police report. 

For his part, Scheffler maintained he did absolutely nothing wrong. 

He is due to be arraigned on 21 May at 9am ET.
