GolfMagic plays Prestbury GC: golf course vlog

With past course designs such as Pine Valley, Royal Lytham and Muirfield, I knew I was in for a treat when I arrived at Harry Colt's pristine parkland, Prestbury, writes GolfMagic's social content executie and PGA pro Sam Mellor.

This 18-hole parkland course is perfectly designed between some on the most stunning houses you will see in Cheshire.

It presents lots of elevated tees with huge trees that surround you, making you feel like you're in your own little world out there.

Throw in a number of tight driving holes that require good positioning from the tee given you can't see the flag or even the green from the tee, and you have a golf course that keeps you on your guard for the entire round.

I've been fortunate enough to play a number of course in my time, and I can assure you the tee boxes and greens are cut to a similar standard as Wentworth's West Course, home to the BMW PGA Championship.

I loved every part of the course especially the par 3s that possess loads of character. Some short, some long - so there is a requirement of strong iron play right through the bag. 

The signature hole has to be the par-4 9th, a true test at 455 yards. I found the intermediate rough after a good tee shot which left me 140 yards up the hill to a three-tier green. A superb hole that will test any standard of golfer. 

Overall, Prestbury represents one of the most picturesque parkland courses I have ever played, set in a truly stunning part of Cheshire.

A must see if you ever find yourself in the area.
