Smith is on fire!

Cam Smith couldn't have asked for a better start on day two of The 150th Open Championship!

The Australian rolls in a 12-foot birdie putt on the 3rd hole to make three consecutive birdies.

He is already on 8-under-par and just one shot behind Dustin Johnson!

Will Brooks make the cut?

Brooks Koepka bogeyed his first two holes on Friday but he has found a great birdie on the 3rd hole!

He is back to 2-over for the championship, but he may need to finish in the red on day two if he is to play at the weekend.

Koepka finished tied sixth at The Open in 2021 at Royal St. George's...

Could it be Cam Smith's time to shine this week at St Andrews?

13:31
Cameron Young gets underway...

Cameron Young gets his second round started.

The sun is out now and there a just a few clouds in the sky.

Will it be another effortless day for Young?

13:27
Who can stop Scottie Scheffler?

Scottie Scheffler posts 68-68 and moves to 8-under par for the championship.

In all honesty, it probably should have been even better for the World No. 1.

Some superstar names are making a move to get their hands on the Claret Jug.

13:23
Superb round by Tyrrell Hatton...

Tyrrell Hatton posts 66.

A lovely move for the Englishman, he moves to 8-under for the championship.

Right in the mix!

13:20
Scheffler navigates the Valley of Sin...

The World No.1 is just short and left of the pin at the 18th and he plays a beauty that gives him a great look to move to 8-under and just one back of Johnson.

And it's a great start for Cam Smith with a long, long birdie putt at No. 1.

13:18
Brooks finds water at the first!

Oh no, not the start this man wanted.

He's dumped his second shot at the first hole into the water.

Watching on, Cameron Smith plays safe and finds the putting surface.

13:16
Spieth passes up golden opportunity

Spieth passes up a golden chance for a birdie to move to 6-under. His birdie putt at 10 just slides to the right.

His playing partners Rahm and Varner III tidy up steady pars.

Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler find a birdie at 17 and stays at 7-under alongside Tyrrell Hatton.

13:11
Birdie for Daly at the first

John Daly moves back to the projected cut of level par with a nice birdie at the first.

13:07
What is the projected cut?

The field will be trimmed to 70 players today, with the current projected cut level par.

13:07
Dustin Johnson posts 67

Dustin Johnson posts 67 with a birdie at the 18th to move to 9-under par, one clear of Cameron Young.

Playing alongside him, Adam Scott goes close with his eagle putt but narrowly misses and tidies up his birdie putt to move to -7 for the championship.

A superb round of golf for Johnson.

13:01
Spieth, Rahm and Varner III reach the turn...

Spieth -5

Rahm -3

Varner III -3

These guy's are moving along nicely today.

And as I type, Spieth has just stuffed his approach into 10 and has a chance to move two back from the lead...

12:58
Bryson DeChambeau tees off...

LIV Golf's Bryson DeChambeau gets his second round underway with John Daly.

The two fitness icons are playing with Cameron Tringale.

12:53
These chaps still believe...

12:51
So many players are making moves today...

The rain has softened up these greens and it's giving a few more scoring opportunities that weren't there on day one.

Patrick Cantlay is absolutely cruising at the moment and now is sitting on 6-under par alongside Si-Woo Kim, Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott.

A reminder that McIlroy tees off at 2.59pm.

Yesterday, one of McIlroy's drives struck the hand of a PGA Tour official which caused a fracture.

He did shout fore!

12:47
Here's that DJ birdie...
12:45
Tiger Woods reaches the turn...

Tiger Woods is at 7-over and has just reached the turn. It's not to be for the great man this week.

He needed a miracle here but now he needs that and probably divine intervention to make it through to the weekend.

Matthew Fitzpatrick is trundling along nicely at 3-under par for the championship.

Max Homa, at 1-over par, has work to do.

Homa said yesterday that playing with Woods - other than his golf - "felt like a fantasy".

Here's to hoping he has a good back nine with his idol...

12:38
Some tee times for you...

There are still a bunch of groups left to go out. Phil Mickelson has just teed off alongside Kurt Kitayama and Lucas Herbert.

What do we make of Mickelson at this Open?

Lefty said he was ecstatic to be here, but his demeanour this week has been anything but.

Dustin Johnson ties for the lead!

Thanks Matt for all the updates so far.

What an Open we have shaping up.

And Dustin Johnson has just moved to 8-under with two holes left to play. He's just drained an uphill swinger and is now tied for the lead!

12:24
Tyrrell Hatton loves St Andrews!

Tyrrell Hatton makes a calm birdie at the par-5 14th hole to reach 7-under-par and he is now just one shot behind Cameron Young.

He is a two-time winner of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, so it is no surprise to see the Englishman playing well on the Old Course...

12:20
Poulter booed again!

Unfortunately, Ian Poulter receives boos on the 1st tee box on the second day of The Open Championship.

Poulter has moved over to the controversial Saudi-backed LIV Golf Series and he also appealed his suspension from the Genesis Scottish Open.

He shot 3-under-par in the first round on Friday...

12:09
Gooch is in the clubhouse at -7!

It is a solid day's work for Talor Gooch on Friday at St Andrews.

With four birdies and one bogey, the American moves to 7-under-par for the week with a 69.

Could the LIV Golf player win his first major title this week?

DJ is now within one!

Dustin Johnson's superb second round continues with another birdie on the par-5 14th hole!

Johnson came tied second in 2011 at The Open Championship and he is in that exact position right now.

Adam Scott has also made a significant move on Friday, carding his sixth birdie of the day on 14 to reach 6-under-par...

11:59
Cantlay lighting up the Old Course!

Patrick Cantlay is only five holes into his second round at St Andrew's, but he has made three birdies already.

He holed a short three-footer on the par-5 5th hole to reach 5-under-par for the tournament.

Despite winning seven times on the PGA Tour, the 30-year-old is yet to win a major title.
