PGA Tour pro Ben An labelled Michael Block's excuses for playing poorly at the PGA Championship 'up there with the flat earthers'.

Block produced a remarkable performance in 2023 when the major was played at Oak Hill Country Club.

The PGA professional's electric showing also included a slam dunk ace playing alongside Rory McIlroy in the final round.

Block managed to qualify for the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club but shot rounds of 75 and 82 to miss the cut by 17 strokes.

He later told GOLF one of the primary reasons he struggled was because of the lack of huge crowds following him.

"That's kind of the funny part is I wish there was a huge crowd on every hole because that's when I hit my shots.," he said. "I really do. I always do.

"It's the weirdest thing. When there's no one around is when I hit my worst shots.

"That's something that I need more in my life is a bigger crowd. I just need to play a little better so it could happen.

"I could only imagine what would have happened if I would have been playing really good this week."

PGA Tour member An never shies away from voicing his opinion on X.

You may recall An was involved in a feud with Wyndham Clark during the 2024 Presidents Cup in Montreal.

An called out Clark during the biennial contest at Royal Montreal by saying: "You always have a guy in your group who doesn't do s--- but talks s--- all day."

He later apologised.

"Wild take," he wrote of Block's excuses on X. "Definitely somewhere up there with the flat earthers."

Block did stress in his comments to GOLF that he also found the greens difficult to read this week.

It was a completely different story two years ago, he said.

"The pin placements are more difficult [this year]," he added.

"The greens are more firm and there's no roll. It's just all a combination of — that's why the scores aren't that low."

This is not the first time Block has hit the headlines for some interesting comments.

Block previously caused a stir when he claimed he would be one of the best players in the world if he hit the ball the same distance as McIlroy.

He later claimed what he said was taken out of context.

Block was among several notables to miss the cut after 36 holes of the major.

The likes of Shane Lowry, Ludvig Aberg, Jordan Spieth, Hideki Matsuyama, Justin Thomas, Patrick Reed, Rickie Fowler, Patrick Cantlay, Jason Day, Cameron Smith, Phil Mickelson, Justin Rose, Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson also bowed out before moving day.
