Hovland -3 (16)
Where Rahm stumbled, Hovland picked up a shot with a measured tee shot and an excellent putt from range to move him to 3-under for the day.
Rahm -3 (16)
Jon Rahm undoes all of his hard work on the back nine with a costly double bogey on the par-3 16th, having found the water off the tee.
Jon Rahm looks absolutely furious as he sees his tee shot on the long par-3 16th sail into the water.
It was a costly error from the Spaniard and one that could pour water all over his hot streak.
Van Rooyen -6 (17)
It's been a sensational back nine for Van Rooyen, who has made four birdies in his last six holes.
The South African now holds third place on his own at 6-under, one behind Schauffele and two back from Matsuyama.
Morikawa -1 (14)
Morikawa pours in a birdie putt for his second in two holes and moves under par for the first time today.
It's not really been Morikawa's day, and he will undoubtedly be looking on enviously at the low scorers today.
Schauffele -7 (14)
The two-time major champion makes a birdie on the par-5 14th hole to move one shot closer to Matsuyama, who still holds the solo lead at 8-under.
It's been quite some round for Schauffele, and we wouldn't bet against him joining Matsuyama at the top before the end of the day.
Rahm -5 (14)
We said it was close, and Rahm has backed up his incredible approach by holing the eagle putt to move to 5-under, and move into a tie for 5th place with Niemann, Grillo and Kim.
Rahm -3 (13)
Jon Rahm has just hit one of the shots of the day on the tricky par-5 14th hole.
He's ripped it to about five feet and has now got a great look at Eagle to move to 5-under.
Lowry -2 (14)
Oh, so close to an eagle for Lowry on the par-5 14th, but he has to settle for a tap-in birdie, which moves him to 2-under for the day.
He doesn't look thrilled with how his round has gone so far.
Ortiz -6 (11)
Mexico's Ortiz enters the mix with three birdies in a row from the 9th.
The LIV Golf man is now up to 6-under par and in a tie for second with Schauffele and Valimaki.
Schauffele -6 (12)
Schauffele drills home another birdie from six feet on the par-4 12th to move it into a tie for second on 6-under par.
This is a brilliant start for the defending champion.
Scheffler -4 (17)
It's a fourth birdie of the day for Scheffler at the par-4 17th.
The World No.1 moves it to 4-under par and he's just four back.
Right in the mix for a first gold.
Valimaki -5 (13)
It's a bogey at the 13th for Finland's Valimaki, who drops back into the chasing pack on 5-under par.
Matsuyama now has a three-shot lead.
Matsuyama (Jap) -8 (F)
It's a par on the tough par-4 18th for Matsuyama, who fires a flawless 8-under 63.
He's two clear of Valimaki, who is heading down the 13th.
Setting the standard in the first round.

Schauffele (US) -5 (9)
What a brilliant start this is from the defending champion Xander Schauffele.
He's just chipped his third shot to six feet on the par-5 9th and then converted the birdie putt to move to 5-under par.
Schauffele enters the Olympics having won two of the last three majors at the US PGA and The Open.
Grillo (Arg) -5 (F)
It's a brilliant closing birdie for Argentina's Grillo on the tough par-4 18th.
Grillo ends the day at 5-under par.
Three back.
McIlroy (Ire) -4 (15)
It's another birdie for McIlroy, who has now pushed it to 4-under par for the round.

Rahm (Spa) Par (8)
Last week's first-time LIV Golf winner Jon Rahm has just dropped back to level par thru eight holes after two consecutive bogeys on 7 and 8.
Valimaki (Fin) -6 (11)
Finland's Sami Valimaki moves to 6-under par thru 11 and up into solo second.
Niemann -5 (F)
It's a closing bogey for Niemann, but the Chilean cards a solid 5-under 66.
That's three back of Matsuyama, who is heading down the 17th.
McIlroy (Ire) -3 (14)
It's a two-putt birdie for McIlroy at the par-5 14th.
McIlroy moves to 3-under par.
That's five back.
Kim (Kor) -5 (14)
South Korea's Tom Kim is moving serenely into contention, too.
He's just added another birdie at the par-5 14th to move to 5-under par.
Three back of Matsuyama.
Schauffele -4 (7)
Here comes the defending champ!
Schauffele pours home a 20 footer on the 7th to move to 4-under par.
That's just four back of Matsuyama.
